Important Information for your Project

1. Scope of Work

All work will be completed according to the approved estimate provided by Cypress Custom Curbing.

The estimate is based on the information available to us at the time of quoting, including the conditions observed or disclosed before installation.

Any additions, alterations, or requests outside the approved scope of work may result in additional charges. Additional work will be discussed with the client and, where applicable, approved before proceeding.

Cypress Custom Curbing reserves the right to adjust the installation plan if site conditions differ from those reasonably anticipated at the time of estimating.

2. Client Responsibilities & Site Preparation

The client is responsible for ensuring the work area is accessible and ready for installation on the scheduled service date.

Before our crew arrives, please ensure:

  • The work area has approximately 3–4 feet of clearance where reasonably possible.
  • Toys, furniture, garden décor, hoses, and other personal items are removed from the work area.
  • Pets and children are kept safely away from the work area during installation.
  • Gates are unlocked and accessible where required.

Any areas that may present a hazard or require special consideration are disclosed to our team before work begins.

Private Underground Utilities & Irrigation

The client is responsible for identifying and clearly marking any private underground utilities or systems located within or near the work area, including but not limited to:

  • Sprinkler and irrigation lines
  • Low-voltage landscape lighting
  • Invisible dog fences
  • Private electrical lines
  • Private gas lines
  • Other underground services installed by the homeowner or third parties

Cypress Custom Curbing is not responsible for damage to underground utilities, irrigation systems, wiring, or other private services that have not been properly identified, marked, or disclosed to us before installation.

3. Installation & What to Expect

Decorative curbing is installed using concrete-mixing and extrusion equipment. Installation may create moderate noise, dust, and temporary disruption around the work area.

Our team will make reasonable efforts to minimize disruption to your property and will clean up the work area following installation.

Weather & Site Conditions

Concrete installation is dependent on suitable weather and site conditions. Projects may need to be delayed or rescheduled due to rain, excessive heat, cold temperatures, wet ground, or other unsuitable conditions.

We will make reasonable efforts to provide notice of any scheduling changes as soon as possible.

4. Curing & Initial Care

Fresh concrete requires time to properly cure and gain strength.

For the first 24–48 hours:

Please keep:

  • People and pets away from the fresh curbing
  • Lawn equipment and vehicles away
  • Toys and other equipment away
  • Foot traffic off the curbing

Please Do not:

  • Water directly onto the new curbing unless instructed by our team
  • Allow lawn equipment or other machinery to contact the curbing

Curing times may vary depending on temperature, moisture, humidity, and other environmental conditions. Even after the initial curing period, care should be taken when operating lawnmowers, trimmers, snow equipment, and other machinery near the curbing.

5. Colour, Texture & Finished Appearance

Decorative concrete is a handcrafted product. Minor variations in colour, texture, finish and appearance are normal and should be expected.

Factors such as weather, temperature, moisture, curing conditions, aggregate, concrete batches, and the existing landscape can affect the final appearance.

Curbing is installed to follow the existing contours and conditions of the property. On sloped, uneven, straight or irregular areas, the finished curbing may not appear perfectly level or uniform.

These natural variations are inherent to decorative concrete and do not necessarily indicate a defect.

6. Cracking, Movement & Existing Conditions

Concrete can naturally crack, move or change over time.

Cracking and movement can occur as concrete cures and as surrounding ground conditions naturally change. Factors that may contribute include:

  • Soil movement or settlement
  • Freeze/thaw cycles
  • Temperature changes
  • Moisture and drainage conditions
  • Tree or root growth
  • Ground expansion and contraction
  • Movement of adjacent concrete, asphalt, landscaping, retaining walls, driveways, sidewalks, or other structures

Cypress Custom Curbing cannot guarantee that cracking, separation, settlement, or movement will not occur.

Curbing installed adjacent to existing surfaces may experience separation or movement if those surfaces move independently.

Cypress Custom Curbing is not responsible for cracking, settlement, movement, separation, or other damage resulting from natural ground conditions, environmental factors, tree or root growth, drainage issues, freeze/thaw cycles, or other circumstances outside of our reasonable control.

7. Limitations and Disclaimers

Important Information

The client acknowledges that decorative concrete installation carries certain inherent risks and limitations, including but not limited to:

  • Hairline or future cracking
  • Colour or texture variations
  • Minor surface imperfections
  • Movement or separation from adjacent surfaces
  • Ground settlement or shifting
  • Damage caused by tree or root growth
  • Damage caused by freeze/thaw cycles
  • Damage resulting from improper maintenance or use
  • Damage to unmarked or undisclosed underground utilities or irrigation systems
  • Changes resulting from weather or environmental conditions

Unless a specific warranty is provided in writing by Cypress Custom Curbing, no additional warranty is expressed or implied.

8. Maintenance & Care

Proper maintenance will help preserve the appearance and longevity of your decorative curbing.

Help Protect Your Curbing

✔ Avoid fertilizer directly on the curbing
✔ Keep lawnmowers and trimmers from striking the curbing
✔ Keep snow removal equipment away from the curbing
✔ Do not pressure wash for at least 5 days
✔ Remove dirt and debris periodically
✔ Consider periodic sealing

Sealing can help protect decorative concrete from staining, weathering, and surface wear; however, sealing does not guarantee that cracking, fading, or other changes will not occur.
